XRP Ledger Lending Vote Advances: What's Next for Native Lending?
The XRP Ledger is one step closer to introducing native lending on its network. Two amendments, XLS-65 and XLS-66, have been proposed to bring pooled lending and fixed-term loans directly onto the network without separate smart contracts. The framework would enable users to deposit assets into single-asset vaults, receive shares reflecting their participation in the pool, and borrow against those assets.
The proposed amendments also include provisions for loan brokers to make fixed-term credits using these assets, with the network tracking loans, payments, and defaults. Lending companies would continue to take responsibility for verification and credit decision-making.
However, the XRP Ledger needs more than 80% approval from trusted validators for two consecutive weeks before an amendment comes into force. While there is no confirmed mainnet launch date for native lending yet, its introduction could increase demand for XRP if lenders and borrowers choose to use it as collateral or for transactions.
