XRP Ledger Revolutionizes Transaction Speed with Energy-Efficient Consensus Protocol

The XRP Ledger is an energy-efficient blockchain that enables fast and secure transactions without the need for mining. It was created by David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto in 2011 to provide a payment system that doesn't rely on mining.

The XRP Ledger uses the XRP Ledger Consensus Protocol instead of proof-of-work mining. Validators review proposed transactions and vote on the next ledger version, which takes between three and five seconds to complete.

The network requires each active account to hold a base reserve, currently set at 1 XRP, with an additional 0.2 XRP required for certain ledger objects such as trust lines and open trading offers. This rule limits the creation of unused accounts and reduces unnecessary ledger data.

A destination tag is also crucial when sending XRP to an exchange, as it tells the exchange which customer should receive the deposit. A missing or incorrect tag may prevent the exchange from crediting the payment automatically.
