XRP Ledger Rolls Out Permission Delegation Amendment Amid Security Review
XRP Ledger has introduced a new security amendment called Permission Delegation, which aims to make token issuers and treasury teams more secure in their day-to-day operations.
The feature allows account owners to delegate certain tasks to trusted operators without revealing the primary wallet's keys. This separation of sensitive account ownership and operational responsibility is designed to mirror the principle of separation of duties observed among regulated financial institutions.
A critical aspect of this amendment is its implementation, which has been heavily rewritten following previous issues. The XRP Ledger Operations team confirmed that Cantina performed an independent security assessment between March 23 and April 8, identifying two high-risk findings related to irrevocable delegated permissions and handling authorizations for mint and burn operations.
Vet, a validator of the XRPL network, expressed his support for the amendment on social media, stating, 'I just voted Yes for Permission Delegation.' He credited Cantina with reviewing and verifying the security prior to the latest vote. The feature is expected to benefit various aspects of XRP Ledger operations, including real-life tokenization of assets, stablecoins, and meme coins.
