XRP Ledger Sees 11,432 New Accounts Amid Price Jump and Institutional Shifts
The XRP Ledger has seen a significant surge in new accounts, with 11,432 activations on September 24, 2026, more than three times the 30-day average of roughly 2,700-3,000. This increase coincided with XRP's price jump to $1.60 from $1.40, drawing attention from traders and on-chain analysts.
The distinction between an address and an account is important for investors: only when an address receives enough XRP to meet the reserve requirement and creates an AccountRoot entry does it become a fully functional account. This nuance means that exchange batch funding, custody migrations, airdrop farming, and speculative wallet splitting can all produce similar chart results.
The timing of this surge is difficult to ignore, given XRP's price action and the reduction in net shorts by CME leveraged funds, which cut 46.3 million XRP. Additionally, XRP call options traded at a steep premium, with the one-week 25-delta skew reaching 9.3 volatility points.
Santiment counted 3,647 new wallets around the $1.60 breakout and 1,917 whale transactions above $100,000, suggesting some of these new wallets belong to larger players rather than retail investors.
