XRP Ledger Sees 545% Surge in New Accounts Amid D'CENT Wallet Exploit
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has seen a significant increase in new account creation, with a 545% month-over-month rise. The network recorded 11,610 new addresses on September 24, 2026, which is the highest daily figure since February 10 when 14,857 new accounts were created.
This surge may not be a bullish sign for the market. According to on-chain data from XRPScan, a leading XRPL block explorer, active accounts climbed from 16,526 on September 20 to 25,856 on September 24, representing a 65% increase from the 30-day average.
The rise in new account creation is linked to the ongoing D'CENT App Wallet exploit. Attackers have taken nearly 12 million XRP from thousands of wallets after gaining access to private keys through a signing flaw in older versions of the app wallet.
