XRP Ledger Sees 60% User Base Growth, Top Percentile Thresholds Plummet
The XRP Ledger has seen significant growth in recent years, with its user base expanding from approximately 5.04 million accounts in January 2024 to over 8.11 million by September 2026, a jump of more than 60%. However, this increase in wallet numbers has not led to a corresponding shift in the amount of XRP required to be considered among the network's wealthiest holders.
In fact, thresholds for top percentiles have declined across the board. For instance, the minimum holding needed to rank among the top 0.01% dropped from 5.9 million XRP in January 2024 to just over 3.63 million by September 2026. Similarly, the top 1% threshold fell from around 64,077 XRP to approximately 44,509.
This shift means that an account holding a relatively modest amount of XRP, such as 50,000 units, now easily qualifies for the top 1% percentile. The underlying ledger data cannot distinguish between different types of accounts or usage patterns, so this change does not necessarily indicate wealth redistribution from large holders to smaller ones.
Experts caution against interpreting these changes as directly signaling shifts in network decentralization or imminent price action. Instead, they suggest that the widening of top percentile groups and reduced entry requirements may signal more distribution among users, but do not automatically indicate increased decentralization or a reduction in major holdings.
