XRP Ledger Surpasses 11 Million x402 Payments as AI Agents Fuel Automated Commerce

The XRP Ledger has reached nearly 12 million x402 payments as AI agents continue to purchase computing, data, and other online services. According to J. Ayo Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, the number of transactions has grown from 1 million to 10 million in under three months.

Akinyele reported a seven-day average of 525,618 payments per day, which he described as 'pretty incredible' and evidence of a broader role for blockchain settlement. The XRP Ledger is increasingly becoming infrastructure for the machine economy, Akinyele wrote.

The AI agents are using the XRPL payment flow to purchase resources from online providers, which respond with a price and payment requirements before delivering the requested resource. Developers can connect autonomous software to wallets through Ripple's AI payment tools, allowing applications to monitor spending and confirm completion.
