XRP Ledger Surpasses 8 Million Accounts, But What Does it Mean?
The XRP Ledger has reached an all-time high of 8 million activated accounts in July 2026, but beneath this growth story lies a more complicated picture. Daily active addresses on the network have fallen by 61% since June, with numbers dropping to as low as 7,800 on its worst days and sitting at around 25,350 during mid-year readings.
The total number of funded wallets continues to climb, but the share of those wallets actually doing anything on a given day has shrunk significantly. This is where the size of transactions comes into play, with average transaction value reaching between $85,000 and $86,700 in 2026 - a figure that surpasses the per-transaction average of both Bitcoin and Ethereum.
This trend suggests that while fewer people are moving money on the network, each transfer is worth significantly more. The growth of tokenized real-world assets and RLUSD, Ripple's dollar-pegged stablecoin, is driving this shift towards larger transactions. These institutional-grade instruments are being used by asset managers and financial institutions to settle large positions.
The expansion of these tokens on the ledger has been fueled in part by Ripple's multi-year legal dispute with the US Securities and Exchange Commission coming to a close. This outcome has opened doors for regulated financial institutions, which is likely contributing to the increase in institutional activity visible in 2026's on-chain data.
