XRP Ledger Test Validates Data Verification Use Case

XRP's price stabilized at $1.42 on September 6 after researchers from the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) tested its ledger technology.

The experiment, detailed in a working paper published by the BIS, demonstrated a proof of concept for verifying institutional data sets using XRP's ledger.

The test ran on the XRPL DevNet, not the mainnet, and bundled thousands of datasets into one transaction. The design is blockchain-agnostic, according to the authors, who note that their views do not necessarily represent the BIS.

The prototype showed fast verification times, with a median 1-2 seconds per dataset check. It also demonstrated efficient batching, allowing a single root to cover thousands of files. However, the test did not measure sustained mainnet load or enterprise firewalls.
