XRP Ledger Tokenized Assets Surge Past $4 Billion Mark
The XRP Ledger has seen significant growth in its tokenized real-world assets (RWA) market, expanding from $73 million to $4.3 billion over the past year.
This rapid expansion reflects increasing institutional interest in tokenization, but analysts argue that the bigger story lies not in the current value of tokenized assets alone, but rather in how those assets are used after they are issued.
Vet, an analyst, described tokenization as the first step in a broader process that could increase activity on the XRP Ledger. He outlined how utility may develop over time: Assets are tokenized on the XRP Ledger; Financial use cases emerge, including lending, borrowing, trading, and 24/7 settlement; XRP acts as the bridge asset, helping move value between tokenized assets and different currencies through XRPL's auto-bridging mechanism.
The XRP Ledger takes a unique approach to tokenization, according to Vet. He highlighted several characteristics of the network: Native asset functionality without requiring smart contracts; Shared liquidity instead of fragmented liquidity pools; Low transaction costs; No protocol-driven token incentive programs.
