XRP Ledger Unveils Institutional Privacy Solution via Zero-Knowledge Tech
The XRP Ledger has partnered with Boundless to integrate zero-knowledge technology and provide institutional privacy on its public blockchain. This integration allows banks and asset managers to transact privately, addressing a long-standing issue on major public blockchains.
According to Shiv Shankar, CEO of Boundless, the integration replicates selective disclosure controls familiar in traditional finance on the XRP Ledger. Zero-knowledge proofs enable one party to confirm a statement is true without revealing underlying data, such as transaction amounts or counterparty identities.
The integration shields sensitive details from public view while still allowing regulators to audit activity through role-based access controls and selective disclosure mechanisms.
Other blockchain networks, including ZkSync and Zama, are pursuing similar approaches to institutional privacy. However, Boundless argues its model offers more flexibility by deploying via smart contracts rather than requiring institutions to build their own layer-2 networks.
