The XRP Ledger is gearing up for its next major software upgrade, v3.4.0, which includes significant enhancements to the Lending Protocol. According to developer Vet, the new version will improve 'important aspects' of the current protocol, marking another step forward in bolstering the network's Decentralized Finance (DeFi) capabilities.

The XRP Ledger Lending Protocol amendment is currently open for voting, with 31.43% of tokens cast so far. The proposed change would allow for uncollateralized lending on the blockchain in fixed terms, leveraging off-chain underwriting and risk management to assess borrowers and support customizable peer-to-peer loans.

The upgrade also includes the addition of a MemoData field to the VaultDelete transaction, as part of the LendingProtocolV1_1 contract. This is set to be released alongside v3.4.0 next week, marking another significant milestone in the development of the XRP Ledger ecosystem.
