XRP Ledger Upgrade Hinges on Validator Support Amid Price Uptrend
Ripple's XRP has seen a 22.2% price increase over the past week, reaching $1.58 as of September 23. This uptrend comes ahead of a critical deadline on September 29, when the revised Batch amendment for the XRP Ledger will either activate or be delayed.
The Batch amendment requires support from at least 28 out of 35 validators to pass, and currently has 30 supporters, exceeding the required threshold. However, validator operators can change their votes at any time before the deadline, making activation uncertain.
Unlike some other upgrades, this one does not automatically create demand for XRP. The ledger's new capabilities are intended for institutional workflows, particularly in securities trading and payment settlements.
The All-or-Nothing mode is a key feature of the Batch amendment, ensuring that either both legs of a trade settle or neither do. This eliminates the risk of one leg settling while the other does not.
