XRP on Track to Surpass Bitcoin in Market Cap: Former Ripple CTO
XRP's potential to surpass Bitcoin in market capitalization has been discussed among crypto enthusiasts. Chris Larsen, Ripple's co-founder and former CEO, is not quoted in this article but a key figure who stepped back from day-to-day duties at Ripple at the end of 2025, shared his thoughts on the matter.
During an X Spaces discussion, he was asked about the possibility of XRP flipping Bitcoin by market capitalization. Without hesitation, Chris Schwartz said: 'Yeah, I do. I think it would happen from XRP growing faster than Bitcoin.'
Schwartz emphasized that this scenario is likely to occur as part of a broader crypto market expansion rather than one asset cannibalizing another. He noted that in a world where digital assets are successful, they all probably grow.
The current market capitalization of XRP stands at around $85 billion, roughly 18 times smaller than Bitcoin's market value of approximately $1.55 trillion. Matching Bitcoin's current market capitalization would put XRP somewhere near $24.70.
