XRP Price Plunges Despite Brazil Deal
XRP's price took a hit despite promising news that one of Brazil's core securities depositories, CSD BR, plans to bring assets onto the XRP Ledger. Flare co-founder Hugo Philion called the market's reaction 'lunacy', saying it doesn't make sense for the token to drop after such potentially transformative news.
The deal with CSD BR marks the first time the XRP Ledger is being integrated into financial market infrastructure of this size, and it has significant implications. CSD BR holds over BRL 22 trillion in registered assets, and the plan is to bring large parts of Brazil's fixed-income market onto the XRPL.
The program starts with BTG Pactual fund shares, with plans to put about $15 billion of 'represented' market value on the ledger under a digital twin model. Luke Judges from Ripple said this could happen before the end of the year, but warned that technical delays are possible. The XRPL currently holds around $6.3 billion in total assets.
Some investors have expressed frustration with XRP's price action, citing years of predictions that it would hit $1,000 as a contributing factor to 'hype fatigue'. Others have called for caution, pointing out that the market has ignored other important developments, such as the Evernorth merger approval vote.
