XRP Price Slips Below $1 Amid Whale Activity Surge
The price of XRP slipped below $1 on Tuesday, August 18, as rising whale transactions and derivatives activity failed to produce a sustained price recovery.
According to market data, XRP traded near $0.996, down 0.4% over 24 hours and 1.2% over seven days. Its market capitalization stood at around $62.4 billion, ranking it sixth among cryptocurrencies.
The token briefly recovered above $1 on Monday but failed to maintain the rebound, returning the price below the psychological threshold on Tuesday.
Analyst Ali Martinez reported a 280% increase in XRP Ledger transactions worth more than $1 million within 24 hours. However, transaction counts alone do not establish whether large holders are buying or selling tokens.
