XRP Price Stuck Near $1.50 as Ripple Unlocks 1 Billion Tokens
Ripple unlocked 1 billion XRP worth approximately $1.49 billion from escrow contracts on October 1. The release was executed in four transactions, with 400 million XRP, 300 million XRP, 200 million XRP, and 100 million XRP being unlocked. While the move has created fresh supply for traders, XRP price has remained near $1.50, struggling to break through the $1.54-$1.56 resistance area.
The recent unlock does not necessarily mean that all 1 billion tokens will enter public trading venues. Ripple has historically returned part of its monthly allocation to new escrow contracts, while the remainder can stay in company-controlled wallets or be used for business purposes.
Despite the institutional demand from U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds, which attracted $121.4 million in September, XRP price has remained muted. SoSoValue data shows that cumulative inflows since launch have reached roughly $1.79 billion. The price action has been limited compared to the size of reported fund inflows.
