XRP Scam Busted: David Schwartz Exposes Fake Airdrop on Social Media
Ripple's Chief Technology Officer Emeritus and XRP Ledger architect, David Schwartz, has exposed another scam scheme on social media platform X. In a bold move, Schwartz personally intervened by posting two text GIFs in the comments under a fake post from a hacked account of culture magazine 'NplusOneMag'. The scammers had launched an aggressive promotional campaign for a fake airdrop, but Schwartz's rapid response helped prevent unsuspecting investors from falling victim to the scam.
Schwartz has long been a vocal advocate for caution in the crypto space and has a pinned warning post on his profile: 'Anyone claiming to be me on Instagram or Telegram is a scammer. Stay safe, XRP family.' His guerrilla war against scammers has become a regular occurrence, with attacks targeting wallets becoming increasingly common.
The scammers used hidden trading offers through NFT spam campaigns, attempting to drain users' XRP balances once they approved the transaction for a supposed bonus. Schwartz's manual response, combined with user reports, helped get the fraudulent thread blocked before any funds were lost.
