XRP Seeks Breakout from Four-Year Downtrend in August
XRP's price has been stuck in a four-year losing streak, closing August in the red every year since 2021. The current price is around $1.06, and bulls are eager to break this trend. But why should they be optimistic about Q3 2026?
Despite a disastrous first half of the year, with the first quarter declining by 27.1% and the second quarter falling by 22.4%, the third quarter has shown signs of recovery. In fact, July's gain of 1.91% moved Q3 returns into positive territory at +2.10%. Historically, this is a strong period for XRP's recovery, with an average return of +17% and a median rise to +25.8%.
The current price action on the daily time frame shows that XRP has been moving inside a broad descending wedge for over a year. This trend currently has its upper boundary around $1.20-$1.25, representing the main resistance level. A breakout above this would open up a full-scale rally.
