XRP Supply Shock Theory Emerges with $1,000 Price Target
Crypto commentator Jack Straw made an aggressive case for a future XRP supply shortage, predicting that $20 could be just the start of a much larger price move toward $1,000.
Straw's post cited U.S. crypto legislation and a potential Bitcoin reserve as factors contributing to the supply shock, but he did not provide specific data or evidence to support his claims.
The video attached to Straw's post explained the 'buy-borrow-die' strategy, which involves wealthy individuals appreciating assets, borrowing against them, and using the borrowed funds for other purposes. However, this financial strategy does not itself create demand for XRP, and a supply shortage could only support higher prices if demand increased substantially as available liquidity declined.
The broader $1,000 thesis remains speculative, and even if XRP reached $20, moving from $20 to $1,000 would require another 50-fold price increase. The 'buy-borrow-die' strategy does not create that kind of demand.
