XRP Surges Amid Broader Crypto Market Rally and Ripple's Upgrade Plans
XRP has surged by nearly 8% in 24 hours and around 7% over the past week, driven by both the broader crypto market's rally and technical reasons specific to XRP itself.
The total market cap has climbed to $2.99 trillion, up 6.2%, as Bitcoin broke above $84,000 for the first time in eight months, causing more than $260 million in short positions to be liquidated within an hour.
XRP's technical breakout above a key resistance zone between $1.42 and $1.43 has opened the door to testing $1.449 next, with $1.51 as a further target if momentum continues.
Ripple's announcement that asset managers are preparing for the XRP Ledger's next major upgrade, called 'Batch,' version 1.1, adds to the momentum. This feature allows linked asset and payment transfers to succeed or fail together as a single unit, particularly useful for delivery-versus-payment transactions.
