XRP Tests $1.54 Resistance After 1 Billion Token Unlock
Ripple's October escrow release of 1 billion XRP tokens has set up a critical test at the $1.54 resistance level as traders assess whether institutional demand through exchange-traded funds can absorb the added supply.
The token traded around $1.4893 after the release, with a 24-hour range between roughly $1.48 and $1.54, according to CoinGecko data. Market capitalization remained above $93 billion.
Despite the size of the release, XRP has not experienced sharp selling pressure, reflecting a key distinction that analysts have emphasized: an escrow unlock does not automatically translate to market supply. Ripple has historically re-locked between 700 million and 800 million XRP from each monthly release, leaving only 200 million to 300 million tokens outside escrow for operational purposes or other uses.
The sustained inflow of $121.4 million in September into U.S. spot XRP ETFs has emerged as a significant demand channel, offering structural support that could offset supply-side pressure and facilitate a breakout above the $1.54 threshold.
