XRP Tumbles Below $1 as Leverage Returns and Selling Pressure Deepens

XRP's price has slipped below $1 for the first time since Donald Trump won the US presidential election in November 2024. The token fell as low as $0.99 during the session, its weakest level in over a year.

The move unwinds one of XRP's most important thresholds from its post-election rally. After crossing $1 on Nov. 16, 2024, XRP accelerated to a peak of $3.42 in July 2025 before erasing much of that advance due to the broader crypto market downturn.

Leverage is returning to XRP's derivatives market as traders rebuild exposure despite increasing selling pressure. Binance's seven-day change in XRP open interest swung from about -13% on Aug. 1 to 7.4% by Aug. 11, a reversal of more than 20 percentage points.

However, the additional leverage has yet to translate into stronger buying pressure. Binance's perpetual cumulative volume delta fell from roughly -$251 million at the beginning of August to -$349.5 million by Aug. 11, indicating that sellers are crossing the spread more aggressively than buyers.
