XRP Tumbles on Senate Setback Despite Existing Regulatory Clarity

XRP's price plummeted to below $1.30 yesterday after the US Senate failed to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act). The bill, which aimed to create a wider regulatory framework for digital assets in the US, received 49 votes in favor but fell short of the 60 required votes. XRP's decline was steeper than most major cryptocurrencies, with a 7.71% drop, making it the largest among top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

Despite already having significant legal clarity in the US, thanks to a federal court ruling that XRP itself is not a security, its price fell sharply after the Senate's decision. One possible explanation is that clearer rules across the broader digital-asset market could reduce uncertainty for institutions and financial companies entering the sector. Institutional interest in XRP and its underlying technology continues to grow.

Investors may have anticipated that comprehensive US crypto legislation would improve the regulatory environment, making it easier for institutions to participate in the market. The Senate setback removed a potential catalyst for broader institutional participation, contributing to the heavier selling pressure seen in XRP.
