XRP Whales Drive Major Exchange Outflows in September
Recent data from CryptoQuant reveals a significant shift in XRP exchange outflows, with whales playing a dominant role. On September 29, whale transfers accounted for 84.2% of total outflows on Binance, a level matching that seen on August 21. Meanwhile, individual investors' share dropped to just 15%. This trend extended to centralized exchanges generally, where whales' share of outflows rose from 78% on August 21 to 82% by September 29, while individual investors' share fell from 21% to 17%.
XRP's exchange reserves also reflected this outflow trend. Binance's XRP reserves decreased from 2.70 billion to 2.63 billion between September 26 and October 4, a reduction of about 73.1 million XRP. Similarly, South Korea's Upbit saw its XRP reserves drop from 6.44 billion to 6.41 billion between September 11 and October 5, a decline of approximately 31.6 million XRP. Combined, these exchanges saw around 104.7 million XRP withdrawn from their reserves.
CryptoQuant noted that the increase in whale-led outflows coupled with the decline in exchange reserves could signal a decrease in the supply of XRP available for sale on exchanges. This development may have implications for the coin's market dynamics, though it is important to remember that this is not investment advice.
