XRP's $100 Price Target: A Potential 100x Return on Investment
XRP, the altcoin touted as a potential millionaire-maker by crypto investors for years, has continued to underdeliver. Despite some brief flashes of brilliance, its price remains at just $1.
Ripple, the company behind XRP, has spent nearly $3 billion on blockchain- and crypto-related acquisitions in an effort to create an end-to-end payment and liquidity solution for banks and financial institutions.
The company raised $500 million from VC investors last year at a valuation of $40 billion, more than doubling its market cap. Ripple's ambitious global payments system could potentially tie all the pieces together, heavily promoting XRP as the crypto token driving value within this network.
If XRP were to reach $100, it would be a 100x return on investment, with millionaire-maker math becoming simple: invest $10,000 today and end up with $1 million. While this may seem outlandish, a similar scenario has played out with Bitcoin, which delivered 100,000x returns.
However, it's essential to keep in mind that XRP has been touted as a high-flying cryptocurrency for over a decade yet its all-time high is still just $3.84. Ripple conceded last year that it might capture only 14% of the payment market controlled by SWIFT, and then SWIFT announced it was creating a blockchain-based payment solution with no need for XRP.
