XRP's Best Q3 Performance Won't Save It from October's Expected Downturn
The cryptocurrency market is heading into the fourth quarter (Q4) with high hopes for an immediate surge in prices, dubbed 'Uptober.' However, Ripple's XRP token seems poised to follow its own path, rather than joining the expected rally.
According to historical metrics from CryptoRank and current technical analysis on TradingView charts, there appears to be a paradox at play: despite having its best Q3 performance in four years with a return of +48.1%, XRP's price may not continue to rise immediately.
The strong third-quarter close was largely driven by a short squeeze, which has created local overbought conditions that could lead to consolidation rather than further gains. The futures market is now overloaded with leverage, and for the uptrend to continue in a healthy way, XRP's price needs a technical pullback and retest of support in the 1.30-1.40 range.
October is typically an ideal time for this reset, but it also happens to be XRP's worst month of the year, with an average return of -5.14% and a median of -2.97%. In fact, XRP has consistently ended October lower in past cycles, including 2024 and 2025.
