$XRP's Uptober Rally Halted by October's Historically Poor Performance
The cryptocurrency market is heading into its fourth quarter (Q4) amidst expectations of a traditional rally known as 'Uptober.' However, Ripple's XRP appears set to follow its own path.
Historical metrics by CryptoRank and the current technical picture on TradingView charts suggest that XRP's best Q3 performance in four years may not be enough to save the bulls from a prolonged pause in October. The token posted a return of +48.1% during Q3, its best since 2022, but this rapid surge also created local overbought conditions.
The futures market is now overloaded with leverage, which could lead to a technical pullback and retest of support in the 1.30-1.40 range. October has historically been XRP's worst month of the year, with an average return of -5.14% and median return of -2.97%. The main phase of capital deployment typically comes in late autumn.
