XRP's Uptober Rally May Be Short-Lived Amid Historical Decline
XRP's recent performance has left investors hopeful for an immediate surge in price. The cryptocurrency market is entering its fourth quarter, traditionally known as 'Uptober', with expectations of a rally across major crypto assets. However, historical metrics and technical analysis suggest that XRP may follow a different path.
The token's strong third-quarter close, with a return of +48.1%, has erased its first-half losses and flashed a bullish signal on the weekly timeframe. But this rapid surge has also created local overbought conditions, which could leave bulls stuck in consolidation.
September's rally was driven by a short squeeze, but the futures market is now overloaded with leverage. For the uptrend to continue healthily, XRP needs a technical pullback and a retest of support in the 1.30-1.40 range.
Data from CryptoRank shows that October has historically been XRP's worst month of the year, with an average return of -5.14% and median of -2.97%. The token has consistently ended October lower in past cycles, including 2024 and 2025.
