X's Payments Product Launches Without Crypto Support Amid Bier Departure

Nikita Bier, X's head of product, announced his departure on Wednesday. He will remain as an adviser after nearly two years in charge.

Bier oversaw over 30 new products during his tenure and revamped major parts of the platform, including the timeline feed, Android app, and chat system.

The departure is notable, given that it comes shortly after X launched its payments product, X Money. The service offers peer-to-peer payments, wires, bill pay, and direct payroll deposit into an X account, as well as a Visa debit card and Apple Wallet integration.

However, what's striking about X Money is the absence of cryptocurrency support. This has led some to speculate about Elon Musk's vision for the platform.
