Yellow Card Secures $40 Million to Expand Stablecoin Payments Infrastructure
Yellow Card, a Pan-African crypto startup, has secured $40 million in funding to expand its stablecoin payments infrastructure globally. The investment was backed by SC Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, Blockchain Capital, and other strategic investors.
The company plans to use the funds to scale its Global USD Accounts, a product that combines US dollar accounts, stablecoin settlement, and local currency payment capabilities into a single platform for businesses operating across multiple markets.
Yellow Card's infrastructure currently supports over 50 currencies and operates in more than 50 countries. The company has processed over $10 billion in transactions across its network and counts Visa and Western Union among its customers using the Global USD Accounts.
The investment marks a significant step in Yellow Card's evolution from a cryptocurrency trading platform to a provider of financial infrastructure, as companies increasingly seek alternatives to traditional correspondent banking networks. Stablecoins have emerged as an alternative, allowing businesses to move funds across jurisdictions with fewer intermediaries.
