Z-TEXT Launches Privacy-Focused Messenger on BitcoinZ Blockchain
Z-TEXT, a new privacy-focused messenger built on the BitcoinZ blockchain, has launched without requiring phone numbers, email addresses, SIM cards, or KYC checks. Available now for Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux, with an iOS version coming soon, the app uses zk-SNARKs to ensure message privacy and AES-256-GCM encryption for secure content. Users generate identities from seed phrases, allowing them to discard and replace identities as needed.
The app operates on three layers: the BitcoinZ blockchain for decentralization, zk-SNARKs for privacy, and quantum-resistant cryptography (ML-KEM-768) to protect against future quantum computers. Z-TEXT combines five tools in one: a messenger, a BTCZ wallet, an on-chain password manager, a broadcast feature called Channels, and a disposable identity system.
Sending a message costs 0.0002 BTCZ, with 0.0001 BTCZ returned with each reply, reducing the real cost to about 0.0001 BTCZ per message. The BitcoinZ network, launched on September 10, 2017, is GPU-mineable and has undergone an independent security review confirming the integrity of its coin supply.
Z-TEXT does not issue BTCZ or control the BitcoinZ blockchain and operates without venture capital funding. The company runs an active bug bounty program with rewards up to $1,500 per finding, paid in ZEC from a public, verifiable pool. Eric Pierrot, founder of Z-TEXT, emphasized the importance of zk-SNARKs for protecting free speech and privacy.
