Zakura Common Turbocharges Zcash Transaction Speed
The team behind Zakura, a Zcash node launched in July, has released a significant update to its cryptography libraries. The new collection, called Zakura Common, is designed to speed up private transactions on the Zcash blockchain. According to the project's announcement, Zakura Common makes mobile proof generation more than 14 times faster, desktop generation more than five times faster, Sinsemilla hashing more than 21 times faster, and zk-SNARK verification between four and eight times faster.
The improvements do not require an upgrade to Zcash itself. Wallet developers can adopt the open-source libraries on the network as it exists today. The team said the gains did not come from one large optimization, but rather constant-factor improvements that address bottlenecks in the process.
Sean Bowe, a co-founder of Zcash, noted that shielded wallets using Zakura Common and full nodes like Zakura itself all benefit from the update.
