Zama Surpasses $90M in Shielded TVL as Confidential DeFi Hits New Milestones
The confidential DeFi space has reached new heights on Zama's platform. By September's end, the protocol had surpassed $90 million in shielded TVL, a significant increase from the $40 million recorded in June. This growth is particularly notable as it comes with more than $68 million deposited in active vaults.
The Morpho protocol saw a sharp jump on September 15, going from a single vault to sixteen, curated by five firms: Steakhouse Financial, Armitage by Wintermute, Flowdesk, RockawayX, and Bitwise. These vaults cover five assets, including cUSDC, cUSDT, cWBTC, cAUSD, and cTGBP.
The platform also introduced the first encrypted-balance BTC yield vault in history. Alongside this, the Zama Confidential Swap Protocol allows depositors to move between confidential assets and vault shares without revealing their amounts or intentions. This level of confidentiality is crucial for DeFi's long-term growth, according to Rand Hindi, CEO of the protocol.
Hindi emphasized the importance of confidentiality in bringing 'trillions onchain.' The sector received validation from the market with the publication of the first report on confidential DeFi by DeFiLlama Research. This report placed the category at $197.6 million in total TVL, with 170% growth over 18 months.
