Zano Rolls Back One Month of Transactions Amid Vulnerability
Zano's team has announced an emergency rollback of approximately one month's worth of transactions on the blockchain network. The rollback, which took place on September 27, restarted the chain from block 3,833,000, dating back to August 26.
The team cited a Gateway Address vulnerability as the reason for the rollback, stating that it allowed unauthorized ZANO and Freedom Dollar (fUSD) to enter circulation. However, they assured users that wallet spend keys and ordinary transaction privacy were not compromised.
To finance recovery efforts, the team plans to draw from the blockchain network's developer fund, team members' personal funds, and committed contributors. The funding amount and timetable for payments have not been disclosed.
Affected users are advised to save their transaction IDs, trade records, and exchange records as they will be required for a claims process that has yet to be announced. Users are also urged to update their wallets and check the final status of payments on the recovered chain before resending funds.
