Zcash Activates Ironwood Upgrade Amid Ongoing Counterfeiting Concerns
Zcash has activated its Ironwood network upgrade, designed to prevent counterfeit coins from entering circulation and enhance security against future threats.
The upgrade replaces the Orchard shielded pool with a new private pool, effectively retiring roughly 3.7 million ZEC worth around $1.7 billion.
Ironwood also introduces quantum-resistant transaction records and formally verified cryptography to reduce the risk of similar vulnerabilities in the future.
