Zcash Advocacy Group Registers First Lobbyist in Washington
Zcash has taken a significant step in Washington with the registration of its first official lobbyist. Pretty Good Policy for Zcash (PGPZ), a 501(c)(4) advocacy group, filed paperwork during the week of October 4, 2026, naming Divij Pandya, its executive director, as the lobbyist. PGPZ aims to champion policy education, coordination, and advocacy specifically for the Zcash ecosystem.
Established in summer 2026, PGPZ focuses on a broad agenda including financial privacy, digital asset market structure, developer protections, anti-money laundering (AML) rules, sanctions, and tax policy. Pandya, previously at FS Vector, will lead lobbying efforts, policy analysis, and coalition-building on Capitol Hill. The group is seeking a $750,000 grant from Zcash Community Grants to fund its first year of operations.
PGPZ builds on earlier advocacy work by the Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL) and Paul Brigner, who laid the groundwork through policy events and briefings. While ZODL will continue its core protocol work, infrastructure, and wallet development, PGPZ will operate independently to represent Zcash's interests in political discussions.
The group's efforts are particularly timely given the ongoing debates around the CLARITY Act, which addresses digital asset market structure. With a dedicated advocate in Washington, Zcash stakeholders hope to ensure privacy considerations are prominently featured in legislative discussions. The funding request to Zcash Community Grants will effectively determine whether the ecosystem values direct political representation enough to justify the cost.
