Zcash Community Votes for Faster Blocks and No Halving Changes

The Zcash community has spoken on its next major network upgrade, NU7, and it's clear that token holders want faster block times and no changes to the halving schedule.

In a recent poll, 99.9% of eligible voters supported reducing the target block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, with 98.9% also backing the preservation of scheduled halvings.

This move is meant to improve the network's efficiency and speed up transaction confirmations, while still keeping long-term issuance predictable.

The community is divided on how Zcash should handle economic changes beyond block rewards, with a separate advisory-panel vote showing a close split between those who want to keep halvings and those who prefer a gradual issuance curve.
