Zcash Cuts Transaction Time with Zakura Common Upgrade
Developers from Zcash's Zakura team have launched Zakura Common, an open-source cryptographic software designed to speed up private transaction creation on the network. Previously, creating a private Zcash transaction would take over three seconds due to heavy cryptographic computation required for sender and receiver anonymity. With Zakura Common, this time has been reduced to under 200 milliseconds.
This upgrade significantly improves mobile wallet processing by more than 14 times and desktop by over 5 times. Additionally, hashing is now 21 times faster, while node verification is up to 8 times quicker. According to Zcash cofounder Sean Bowe, shielded wallets and full nodes utilizing Zakura Common both benefit from the upgrade.
Unlike a network-wide upgrade, wallet developers can integrate Zakura Common's open-source libraries immediately through its 1.3.0 release. The Vizor Wallet has already been integrated as part of the team's broader goal to scale Zcash transactions to 50,000 per second.
