Zcash developers have set their sights on November 5 for the activation of the NU7 protocol upgrade on mainnet. This upgrade aims to significantly shorten Zcash's block interval from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, improving network performance and throughput.

The NU7 protocol will retain the existing halving schedule, but its faster block times are expected to improve the network's ability to process transactions more quickly. The testnet rollout for NU7 is scheduled to begin on October 6, with developers planning to confirm the activation height on October 20.
