Zcash Developers Set Stage for NU7 Upgrade with New Timeline
Zcash developers have set a new timeline for the NU7 upgrade, which will bring several key changes to the network. The testnet is scheduled to activate on October 6, with mainnet activation targeted for November 5 if testing goes smoothly.
The proposed schedule includes deadlines for code completion by September 30 and a go/no-go review on October 20. If everything goes according to plan, NU7 will introduce a 25-second block target, remove support for version 4 transactions, and integrate the network sustainability mechanism.
The release package has been narrowed down to these three principal changes, which should minimize the number of consensus changes that need to be implemented and tested. Maintained wallets are expected to require minimal updates, but users relying on outdated software may encounter issues after NU7 activation.
