Zcash ETF Gets SEC Nod: Wall Street Invites Privacy Coin into Fold
Zcash is taking another step towards gaining access to Wall Street with its auditable privacy coin positioning. Grayscale filed the fifth amended registration statement for the Zcash Trust with the SEC on August 21, 2026, which will list on NYSE Arca as The Zcash ETF (ticker: ZCSH) if approved.
This is a significant development in the crypto world, considering that ZEC has been delisted from 73 exchanges worldwide and banned from custody under EU legislation due to its anonymity-enhanced nature. However, BNY Mellon will serve as the sponsor and transfer agent for the product, while Coinbase Custody acts as the custodian.
The ETF's annual management fee is set at 2.5% denominated in ZEC, accrued daily. The product supports cash creation/redemption but does not currently support physical redemption. DCG International Investments, a subsidiary of Grayscale's parent company Digital Currency Group, is negotiating to contribute approximately 200,000 ZEC to the trust, valued at roughly $110 million based on then-prevailing prices.
The filing indicates that Grayscale is moving ever closer to converting the trust into an ETF. James Seyffart, a Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst, commented that this filing shows Grayscale's progress in achieving this goal.
