Zcash Holders Back Faster Blocks and Halving Schedule in Upcoming Upgrade
Zcash holders have voted to reduce block times from 75 seconds to 25 seconds in an effort to speed up block production.
According to a vote on the network's upcoming NU7 upgrade, about 2.4 million ZEC took part, representing two-thirds of the eligible supply.
The proposal pairs faster block intervals with adjustments that keep overall issuance rates steady over calendar time.
About 98.9% of voters chose to retain Zcash's existing Bitcoin-style halving schedule, under which miner rewards are cut in half at fixed intervals.
