Zcash Holders Back Faster Blocks and Halvings for NU7 Upgrade
Zcash token holders have made their stance clear on two major proposals for the network's upcoming upgrade, NU7. In a poll that concluded with a voting snapshot, a staggering 99.9% of ZEC-weighted votes supported reducing the network's target block time to 25 seconds from its current 75 seconds.
This move is expected to decrease the wait time for transaction confirmations and will not alter the scheduled daily issuance of new tokens. Another proposal that garnered significant support, with 98.9% of token holders in favor, was preserving the existing halving schedule.
The results of the poll also showed that a majority of Zcash Community Advisory Panel members were split on whether to keep or replace the halving schedule with a gradual issuance curve. The winning option for coinholders would allow funds removed from circulation under a separate proposal to be returned through future block rewards.
