Zcash Holders Back Faster Transactions and Halvings
Zcash coinholders have given their backing to faster transactions and preserving the network's Bitcoin-style halving schedule. In a governance poll that closed on September 14, roughly 2.4 million ZEC took part, equivalent to about 66% of the approximately 3.6 million ZEC eligible at the snapshot.
The selected measures still need implementation, testing and formal network-upgrade activation before they can be deployed. The proposal to reduce target block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds has been supported by 99.9% of coinholders, which is expected to result in a threefold reduction in user latency.
The vote also retained the Bitcoin-style halving schedule, with 2,375,932.375 ZEC in support and 22,384.875 ZEC backing a smooth issuance curve. The selection favors periodic supply reductions over distributing issuance changes more evenly over time.
