Zcash Mining Revenue Soars But Competition Risks Eroding Advantage

Zcash mining revenue has surged to become roughly twice as high per machine compared to Bitcoin's. The higher token price of ZEC has led to increased block rewards for miners, which in turn has attracted more equipment to the network.

Grayscale Research estimates that revenue per MWh is about 4 times higher for Zcash than for Bitcoin. However, this advantage may be short-lived as rising computing power already appears to be squeezing individual miners' profits.

The number of Zcash mining machines has increased by over 2.5 times since the start of 2026, with network activity showing no signs of slowing down. According to CoinWarz, the difficulty of the Zcash network has risen by 9.28% over the past 30 days.

The increasing competition for mining rewards may eventually narrow Zcash's advantage over Bitcoin. As more machines join the network, each one competes for a smaller share of the available block rewards, which can lead to lower revenue per machine.
