The Zcash NU7 upgrade is scheduled to launch on November 5th, following a decision by ecosystem engineering teams to deploy several major network changes. The update will include 25-second blocks, disabling version 4 transactions, and implementing the Network Sustainability Mechanism.

According to Sean Bowe's statement, there is a shared understanding between Zcash Foundation, Project Tachyon, Valar Group, ZODL, Shielded Labs, and all engineers about the scope and timeline of the deliverables. These changes are expected to be completed by September 30th.

The NU7 upgrade also includes ZIP 218, which will lower Zcash's target block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, tripling the block rate while continuing to issue the same number of ZEC per day. This change aims to decrease confirmation times for payments and cross-chain operations.
