Zcash NU7 Upgrade Nears Launch with 25-Second Blocks
Zcash developers are making progress on the NU7 mainnet upgrade, which is now targeted for November 5. The update will significantly improve the network's performance by reducing block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds.
The reduction in block interval will also introduce some changes, including disabling version 4 transactions and integrating the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM). This mechanism preserves Zcash's halving schedule, with the reintroduction of previously removed supply beginning in February 2031.
According to Bowe, full nodes, indexers, and block explorers may require adjustments as a result of the upgrade. However, he assured that wallets will not be significantly affected.
