Zcash NU7 Upgrade Set for November 5 Amid Market Momentum
Zcash developers have reached an agreement on the timing and details of their upcoming NU7 upgrade. The mainnet activation is now set for November 5, following a testnet launch on October 6 and a final decision on deployment on October 20.
The NU7 upgrade will reduce block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, preserve the halving schedule, and reintroduce previously removed supply in February 2031. This means that ZEC holders can expect faster transaction processing times without any changes to the established supply schedule.
According to developer Sean Bowe, NU7 will not introduce new transaction formats, which should minimize disruptions for everyday users. However, full nodes, indexers, and block explorers may require adjustments to accommodate the upgrade.
The unanimous agreement among developers is seen as a positive development for the Zcash community, particularly given the recent price surge in ZEC. The asset has risen 20% in the past day, driven by strong market interest in privacy-focused cryptocurrencies.
