Zcash Plummets 21% Amid ETF Withdrawals and Hacking Concerns
Zcash has taken a hit after reaching a recent high of $1,698.00 in September, plummeting by approximately 21% to its current price of $1,333.50. This significant drop comes on the heels of a 253% increase from its starting point of $480.72.
The downturn is attributed to several factors, including a massive withdrawal of $30.25 million from Grayscale's Zcash ETF, which has seen a total net inflow of nearly $268 million. Additionally, the involvement of North Korean hackers in using Zcash's privacy pool to launder funds has also contributed to the market pressure.
According to blockchain investigator ZachXBT, approximately $3.9 million was transferred from addresses linked to the hackers into Zcash's private pools on September 24th. While this incident may not have been the direct cause of today's decline, it certainly hasn't helped matters.
Trend indicators suggest that Zcash is still in a strong bullish trend, but recent price action suggests a possible correction. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has dropped to 50.2, indicating neutral territory, while the Average Directional Movement Index (ADX) remains high at 52.0.
While some may view this as a buying opportunity, it's essential to consider that a significant downturn could still be on the horizon. If the price continues to drop, the 200-day EMA and 50-day EMA will converge, potentially signaling a change in trend.
